How Focus Mode works

When you switch to Focus Mode, TapTidy scores every incomplete task across all your projects using two signals: how soon it's due (urgency weight) and the priority you've assigned (P1–P4). The top three bubble up — everything else is hidden until you mark one done or dismiss it for the day.

Marking a task complete in Focus Mode is the same as completing it anywhere else. There's no separate "focus list" — just a view filter on your real task data.

Task ranking algorithm

Tasks are scored based on:

Due date proximity — overdue tasks are always surfaced first
Priority level — P1 tasks score higher than P2, P3, P4
Manual pinning — you can pin specific tasks to always appear in Focus

The algorithm runs locally on your device — not on the server. No task content leaves your device for the ranking calculation. On Android, the same ranking logic runs in the native Kotlin app and powers the home screen widget update cycle.

Home screen widget

The TapTidy Android widget suite runs on Jetpack Glance and includes five widget types: TaskList (Today / Inbox / Upcoming / List views), Top3 focus tasks, Stats, ShoppingList, and QuickAdd. All widgets adapt to Material You dynamic color on Android 12+ and support COMFORTABLE, COMPACT, and DENSE layout modes. Widget data is updated via a debounced coordinator — changes sync within seconds without redundant refreshes.

Tapping a task opens it directly in the app. Tapping the quick-add widget opens natural language capture pre-loaded and ready. Each widget instance has its own configuration: theme mode (Light / Dark / System / Match App), opacity, compact mode, and whether completed tasks are shown.

Availability

Focus Mode is included in TapTidy Pro and Pro Privacy. It is not available on the Free tier.

Does TapTidy have a Pomodoro timer?

Yes. TapTidy includes a built-in Pomodoro timer integrated with Focus Mode. You can start timed work sessions and break sessions directly from the Focus Mode interface. The timer is available on Pro and Pro Privacy tiers.

Is TapTidy Focus Mode AI-powered?

No. TapTidy's Focus Mode uses a deterministic local algorithm that ranks tasks by due date proximity and your assigned priority level. No AI or machine learning is involved — the ranking runs entirely on your device without sending task content to any server.
